Tariff Changes? We've Got You Covered
As of March 3rd, Trump has imposed his 25% tariffs, and we wanted to reach out and reiterate our long-standing commitment to buying Canadian-made or produced products whenever we can.
You’ve come to know us as proud community-driven advocates for our industry. Leaning into our local trades and suppliers is something we're incredibly proud to champion as trusted designers and incubators. Our commitment to supporting Canadian businesses has always been at the forefront of our minds.
The strength of our local economy and the quality of Canadian-made products drive us to prioritize sourcing our materials from local vendors whenever possible. From the lumber to the PVC piping, concrete and fabricated features, we're dedicated to using materials sourced close to home.
This means that when you choose Eden Projects and its subtrades to support your projects, you're not just getting an exceptional landscape build team but investing in Canadian jobs and businesses.
We also recognise that investing in a project is a significant financial commitment. In an ever-changing market, we understand the recent tariff uncertainties that come with budgeting for your dream outdoor space. Our team is dedicated to protecting your investment by carefully managing costs, mitigating risks, and ensuring your budget is used effectively so that your vision can come to life without unnecessary financial strain
We want to reassure you that our commitment to local sourcing means that potential tariff fluctuations will be minimized when sourcing for your project.
To protect and improve processes and the impacts of uncertainty in the market, we’re also investing time to mitigate risk in our contracts. Our membership with VICA means we’re informed and trained in best practices and standards as laid out by the CCA and BCCA.
You’ll notice terms and focus in the following ways:
Price Escalation Clauses: Our contracts will account for unexpected material cost increases using provisions for cash allowances and change orders to stay on top of market volatility.
Material Price Adjustments: We are working with our advisors to create clauses that allow and inform parties of adjustments based on market conditions.
Secure Supply Chain Agreements: We continue to establish and nurture our long-term supplier contracts or explore alternative sourcing options to stabilize pricing.
Improved Force Majeure & Delay Provisions: We will ensure our contracts offer reasonable relief for project delays caused by trade disruptions.
Commitment to Communicate Regularly with Clients & Owners: We aim to set up each project with realistic expectations early regarding costs and timelines to prevent disputes and maintain strong client relationships. We're here for you!
Cost-Saving Opportunities: As previously noted, we’re streamlining business operations to identify any potential savings or improvements in efficiency.
Monitoring Product Pricing: Certain products will be more impacted by tariffs, we’ll consider stockpiling for you before potential tariffs are announced and work with our suppliers to seek out stocked products and Canadian-made and manufactured materials.
Stay Flexible with Supply Chains: We’ll stay informed and adapt alongside our trades and suppliers regarding potential production delays and related cost increases. We’ve added terms, created transparency in our contracts and outlined our expectations with our contractors to mitigate changes and be ahead of them, with you and for you!
Professional Partners and Associations: We have a strong team of trusted advisors and our memberships ensure we are informed and ahead of the media. Our accountants, our legal advisors, and our trade partners are discussing strategies regularly.
